Mission

GDAC helps artists, arts and cultural organizations and
community groups promote,
sustain and enhance all of the
arts including painting, sculpture, crafts, design,
music, theater, dance, poetry, and literature.

Your membership in the Greater Denton Arts Council 
enables us to  continue to offer our community
these outstanding arts experiences:

Education

GDAC recognizes that arts programs are essential in the intellectual growth of our school children. 
Partnering with  the support of area universities and arts organizations, GDAC offers educational
opportunities from elementary school through high school.

 The Campus Theatre is owned by GDAC. 
It is Denton’s performing arts center.

Museum of Texas Art and Culture

 MTAC will be located in the Rayzor Ranch development. 
The Rayzor family has donated a
beautiful site as well as a substantial monetary
gift for this initiative.

Materials: Hard & Soft was named one of
40 outstanding arts
events for 2006 by the
Texas Commission on the Arts.
 

Center for the Visual Arts was named
“Best Local Art Gallery” in
Denton Record Chronicle’s
Best of Denton in 2009.
 

GDAC Executive Director Margaret Chalfant
is a graduate of the 2007 Leadership Denton Class
and nominated as a Denton Star by
the Chamber of Commerce in 2009.
 

GDAC/TAG has distributed over one million dollars in
grants to community organizations since 1980.
 

Has a supportive arm called The Arts Guild (TAG)
the group has an annual auction
for the arts to raise funds for
grants and support the work of  GDAC.
 

GDAC Docents toured 1,200
school children through
Myth & Magic: the Artwork of Gerald McDermott
in December 2008.
 

The Summer Arts Camp was expanded to two weeks,
due to popular demand.

 Became the new home of Fry Street Mural.

Grants

 to local cultural organizations. 
Over one million dollars retuned to our community
in the last 30 years. 
The Arts Guild of Denton helps to raise these funds
with their annual arts auction.
